That damming rivers across the US can cause many problems to rivers that can really degrade the water quality. Also that dams can hold the organic material behind the walls of the dam which can cause algae blooms and start dead zones that cannot support any life in the surrounding water. The water temperature coming out of the dam also can affect the water which puts back in the stream which can harm aquatic life survival and also effect environment downstream. Dammed rivers can lack the natural transportation to spread through out the river making it starve of structural materials that are needed to support life. Fish problems are also occurring around major dams which is effecting the Salmon population down to 85% since big damns were introduced. Taking down dams also has to come down to the power it generates and the harm it does towards the ecosystem.

Basically dams are really big monsters that suck all the natural resources from the river and aquatic life it supports. Dams can be worth building but a trade off, if it gives off a lot power towards cities or where it's needed but at the same time if it can really effect the rivers ecosystem. I wouldn't mind having a dam to power New Jersey IF it can power at least half the state then it's worth having. If the dam can't even have a good output to barely support a town or so, then it's not worth having plus it did damage towards the aquatic ecosystem already.
